What are “Polyphenolic Antioxidants”?

We’re glad you asked! The Miriam-Webster dictionary defines Polyphenolic Antioxidants as follows:

A “Polyphenol” as an antioxidant phytochemical. “Phytochemistry” is the chemistry of plants, plant processes, and plant products.

An “Antioxidant” is a substance that inhibits oxidation or reactions promoted by oxygen, peroxides, or free radicals. 

So basically, polyphenolic antioxidants are naturally occurring, healthful, compounds found in plants, and are especially abundant in the humble but amazing muscadine grape (vitis-rotundafolia).
